I used to upsample my ripped music files with iZotope software in advance, store them that way, then play them back at that unalterable, fixed sample rate. I have changed my way of thinking since using this program. You can download a free trial and see for yourself. There has been a lot of discussion around here about which beta version sounds best, with the consensus being either 1.4.9.7, or 1.4.9.11, but I can assure you that any of the recent versions, up to and including 1.5.2, is worthwhile. It is a bargain at the price, and the developer is deserving of your support. The program has gone through many revisions since then, with so many useful features and enhancements added, that it is a no-brainer to purchase the full version. I saw on an old thread here from late 2012 and someone stated many times that the free version of Audirvana is the most neutral and open sounding version.
